Better interaction with public!

Stage: Active

Campaign: Brainstorming

Given the adoption rate of social media and web 2.0 concepts in communicating with people en mass, in my humble opinion the government could continuously release non-sensitive data to the public and showcase some of the most useful applications. Furthermore, the public voice needs to be heard on developing themes on what could be done with the data. Applications addressing these themes need to be used as a two way communication ...more »

Family history is an interest being taken up by older australians in large numbers. An absorbing interest, it keeps participants mentally alert into old age. However, it can be very expensive occupation as the birth, death and marriage certificates needed to complete a family tree properly cost on average $25 each and access and costs vary from state to state. Tasmania is the only state which has made pre-1899 certificates ...more »

There is an opportunity to open this data as virtual environments where artists and those in the creative industries can create virtual public art and experiment with ways of reinterpreting urban space. The decisions of government are often mysterious. It is next to impossible, for instance, to learn the basis of the federal and State and Territory governments' decisions to allow the release upon the public of a certain vaccine or other drug, as to its efficacy, safety, and necessity. Such decisions can easily appear to be based on fourth-hand hearsay and arbitrary consensus and not at all transparent. My proposal ...more »
